Ratnalu Nikhil Choudhery, popularly known as “Trippie Nick,” was born on 9th June 1998 in India. His father’s name is Mr. R Umashankar Choudhery, and his mother’s name is Mrs. Ritu Choudhery.
Nick discovered his talent for rapping when he was sent to a boarding school in India after completing his 10th grade. While studying in his 11th grade, there was an interschool cultural competition held at his school. During the competition, one of the participants representing his school in the cultural competition got sick and could not perform in that event. Everyone was in a panic situation, thinking now who would represent their school during that competition. It was Nick who got up and took charge. He requested his principal to allow him to represent his school in that competition. Everyone was surprised to see that now what will Nick do in the competition. He got up on the stage confidently and told the DJ to play a random beat, and he decided to do a freestyle to it. Without any hesitations or interruptions, his flow went as smooth as butter. It was the time when the judges were announcing the winner of the music event where “Trippie Nick” bagged the first prize and made his school feel proud of him.
Everyone was keen to know how he did it without any practice or learning, and his reply to all of them where that “this thing is known to me as I was born with this talent which I never discovered before.” He then started to learn and brush up on his rapping skills which he knew he could get better at, and release his own songs one day.
After completing his schooling, Nick decided to move to Pune to pursue his bachelor’s degree. During his studies there, he never left practicing and writing lyrics of his songs in his diary. He won many rap and music competitions in Pune, which gave him a lot of hints to carry his musical journey along with his studies further. His biggest achievement during that time was winning a talent competition organized at his university by MTV India, which gave him an opportunity to get featured on Television. This completely changed his life as he became more popular in the city and on social media. After completing his studies, he decided to move to Australia to pursue his master’s degree.
His hard work and hustle got him admitted to one of the world’s top 50 universities which is ‘Monash University” in Melbourne. As soon as he arrived in Melbourne, the Covid 19 pandemic was at its peak, and unfortunately, the lockdown was announced. During this time, it became very difficult to manage his studies and his expenditures. He started doing multiple jobs to earn a living and to fulfill his rent and other expenses. It was very hard for him to manage his studies and his jobs during that time.
He used to sleep for 2 to 3 hours at night due to his busy and hectic schedule. He also started saving for his music dream, which he always wanted to achieve. Eventually, in a few months, he began to buy professional equipment which would be required to produce music. After months of struggle and hard work, he finally built his mini home studio at his house.
He started to record, mix and master his music all by himself. His family and friends always kept on supporting him to keep up with the work he was doing in music. He then started releasing his songs on professional music streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon Music, YouTube, and many other platforms. He has also made an incredible effort to bring Hindi rap music into Australia, where he is being much appreciated and loved. His forte is that he always brings something fresh and exciting into the HIP-HOP scene.
