US Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged Russia to “stop its dangerous and aggressive actions” towards Ukraine during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday.
The warning comes as tensions on the border between the two nations remain high.
Blinken said that, although Russia has reduced its military presence on the border with Ukraine it maintains “significant forces” there.
Blinken said Monday in London that he would use the visit to show “our unwavering support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.”
Zelenskyy has made it clear that he wants significant action but what Blinken will be able to deliver is currently unclear.
With the threat of conflict in the country’s east, Ukraine’s aspiration to join NATO will certainly be on the agenda.
